Uncle Peters Trip to Italy

Butera Wine Cellar

With The Wine Maker in Chianti

Recently my Uncle Peter took a trip to Italy. He was invited to go on a wine tasting trip with winemakers who had heard of his interesting wine blog. If you do not know this yet, Italy is a place where they make wonderful food. They do not just make any kind of food but they make many different kinds of food and many different foods that have many really magnificent flavors. If you go to Italy you do not just have to eat wonderful food but there are many great things that you can see such as some very historic volcanoes and towns. On my uncles blog you will see reviews of restaurant, wine, and food. If you live or ever visit the New York area going to his blog might be a good idea if you want to find some good restaurant reviews and suggestions. The link to his blog is

Thanksgiving 2012

The pecan pie

The Pumpkin pie

The turkey before roasting

The corn pudding

My dad's stuffing

The turkey after roasting and ready to eat

My family and I had a very good Thanksgiving this year. We invited some friends over, had fun, watched some good football, and most of all ate some very good food. We decided with our friends that we would serve dinner at our place and then we would all go to their house for some delicious dessert. I really liked doing things this way because both of the families got to help each other out and enjoy the Holiday together. We kept almost all of the same dishes on the menu as we did last year and a few years back. As normal my dad cooked the turkey and also made the wonderful stuffing. My mom made the corn pudding, the green beans with shallots and bacon, the salad, and the squash. You are probably wondering who made the best part of the meal, which is the mashed potatoes, well our friends got to make them. Unfortunately I did not get to cook with my mom and dad this year. I thought that if I got in the kitchen I might mess something up. My parents have a great thing going with cooking the Thanksgiving Day meal – so I thought I would leave them alone.
One best parts of this Thanksgiving was walking over to our friend’s house after the main meal because it was snowing and pretty windy out, making it felt more like winter. This was my first progressive dinner and I really think it was a success.

The Food I ate in Duluth

Bellisio's the BEST Italian restaurant
in Minnesota

This is the post where you get to read about the food that I got to eat while I was in Duluth. We had some good meals while we were there. And yes my family and I did go to Bellisio’s the best Italian food in Minnesota. In fact I will start off talking about our meal at Bellisio’s. Of course my opinion is that Bellisio’s best dish is the Rigatoni alla Bolognese. That was what my brother and I got. Bellisio’s was our first and only dinner there. My family ate there the night that we arrived in Duluth.
For our first meal in Duluth we had lunch at Amazing Grace. This place is really good when you want a little snack. The first thing you see when you walk in is the baked goods. It is hard to pass up these tasty treats. If you buy one,  you will walk out with your tummy satisfied. We had our first meal there and then the next morning we had breakfast there, which was good. My brother and I split a breakfast burrito, which was pretty good. Whenever we go up to Duluth we have some pretty good meals. If you are driving through Duluth and you feel like you need to stop and have a good meal you should pull the trigger and visit one of the many good restaurants in Duluth.

Trip to Duluth 2012

The 1,000 foot American Century

The 1,004 foot Mesabi Miner

Recently my family took a trip up to Duluth Minnesota. We were there because it was my Elementary school graduation present from my mom and dad. We were going to go up there during the summer, but suddenly a huge flood came through Duluth so we had to postpone our trip. Duluth got about 11 inches of rain so a lot of the little streams that went into Lake Superior became raging rivers, towns were devastated, and many of the beautiful state parks had to close because of devastation from the flooding.
Even though our trip was delayed a little bit we still had a really fun time together. We went up to Duluth for 2 days and one night. Even though we were only up there for two days we were able to see and do a lot. Remember that in two days you can get a lot of stuff done in Duluth Minnesota. Our hotel was less then 20 feet away from the canal, which leads into the harbor and further out is the biggest fresh water lake, Lake Superior. Some of the highlights for me were that in the middle of the night when I woke up I could hear cars going across the Duluth Aerial Bridge, which was cool. One other highlight for me would be getting to see two freighters come into the Duluth Harbor. One of them I got to see come in then I got to see it go out the next day. The two boats that I saw were the American Century and the Mesabi Miner. These two boats were both over 1,000 feet long. It was a really cool sight to see these two magnificent ships come into the Duluth harbor. You are probably wondering why am I writing just about the experience and not the food. That is because I am going to write another post about the food I ate in Duluth. So I recommended that if you want to read about the food I ate in Duluth you should read this post for Food I ate in Duluth.
